Painted shop shutters

Some of the stalls around Nakamise Dori were closed, many had painted shutters.

More koi!

Asakusa Kannon Temple complex gardens

Karaoke time!

Tonight was karaoke night! We headed to the local Big Echo karaoke spot and had two hours of singing and drinking beer (ordered on a phone to the bar!). Hits from Robert Palmer, Duran Duran, Elton John, Kravitz and Rolling Stones were sung and danced to. Great fun!

Ferris Wheel

We took a ride on the giant ferris wheel in Tokyo Bay - 150m high. The wind was up today which added a bit of excitement!

Odaiba - Palette Town

Today we headed down to Palette Town & Decks in Odaiba. The place was full of retro video games & 50's - 90's memorabilia shops.

Pug-spotting pt.3

Colette's photos from the car show!!!

Mooneyes Car Show

We went over to the Mooneyes Street Car Nationals show today. An awesome show with hot-rods, VWs (inclusing the beautiful black 67 "The Berms" - above), swapmeet and pinstriping. The show was only £7 to get in and was excellent.

Yurikamome Line

Today was another beautiful day in Tokyo and we took a ride on the Yurikamome Line. This driver-less train is similar to the Docklands Light Railway, but with stunning views across Tokyo Bay.

Afternoon treats...

Sweet filled sponge cakes - fillings included banana cream, chocolate and custard.

Ueno Zoo

We had another trip to a zoo this afternoon. This time Ueno zoo which was only £4 entrance fee. The conditions here were far better than in Kyoto zoo which we went to last week. Highlights were the gorillas.

Lunch

Lunch today (more food!), was in a side-street in Ueno. Chicken curry and lots of rice!

Ameyoko

The side streets between Ueno and Okachimachi Stations were packed full of shops selling everything from slabs of fresh fish to Rolex watches. There were also many trainer shops (Tim was in heaven - but was unable to find the elusive Jordan VI's in black/red; one day!)

Ueno

Today we headed up to Ueno Park and had a walk around the park and visited the Toshogu shrine. Lovely weather today.
